Mindless musings on my thoughts, experiences, and hopes.

So a lot of friends are injured, having surgery, or on bed rest for their pregnancy. What the hay? Well it's sunny here in downtown Monterey but too chilly to go to the beach. Maybe I'll catch a flick once the sun hits the Pacific.

I'm starting to get stoked. Only a few days till I fly home to see my girlfriend and my family. The time away from her and our own work stresses have been a bit rough. I can't wait to give her a hug. So I'll land in the DC area Thurs morning and immediately join up with her and her family for the annual Turkey Trot they do every year. Should be fun. Then off to see my family and to be a glutton.

Besides prepping for the trip home, I want to knock out more Christmas gifts so I don't have to worry about it when I get home in early December. I must say it's a bit hard to realize the holidays are here when everything is green and flowers are blooming. That reminds me...Monarch butterflies are supposed to be in town now, but I don't see any...sneaky little critters.

Hungry, need good food. Finding good food to eat on a daily basis is one of my biggest projects, especially since I don't have a kitchen. The cafeteria is miserable with their dinners, so I try to avoid that place at all costs. I could go for some clam chowder though, a great soup on a chilly night. Let's see...news? No news here, just working on all the paperwork to get my butt home for good. I think it's going to have to be in January with all the holidays approaching. Not to keen on that, but I'm taking a lot of time off from Thanksgiving till New Year's to visit my girlfriend and family. So going back for a couple of weeks will be tolerable. Not preferable, but more tolerable. I'm also getting sick of paying airfares! Airlines have no fear of bankruptcy, I'm here to bail you out!

Rainy and chilly here today. I did a little bit of shopping for the holidays, but I need to think of what to get my parents. They are always the hardest to find a gift for Christmas. Tonight, it's just relaxing time. I'm thinking of renting a movie and vegging out in my room. Sounds good to me.

Back in Monterey and still in limbo. I feel like nothing much is going on in my life right now except for stress about when I will be allowed to get back home. The distance between here and my girlfriend is trying and I miss her a lot. I just know I'm very lucky to have her and I hope to have many many years with her to make up for all this lost time. She rocks!

Writing from Denver. Enjoyed Friday eve in the city and Saturday, my buds and I went on a hike to see a small ice glacier. Funny thing was feeling the elevation and the lack of oxygen. I felt a little light headed and had to breath much more for the same amount of O2. Very neat experience. Otherwise, just chillin' and caping a little with my bud. Back to Monterey tonight. Then home for Thanksgiving in 2 weeks. Can't wait to see my girlfriend and my family.

Well another week gone by and colder weather is here. Along with the rainy season here in Monterey. So, tomorrow I'll head out to Denver to experience cold weather.

Still stuck in Monterey. I got drenched in a huge cold downpour on Friday with only shorts and a t-shirt. So now I have a little cold. But not too bad. As for leaving, I can only pray now for when I get the orders to go home. I'm done with everything on my part. So while I'm loathing in Monterey, I'm going to take a quick jump to Denver next weekend to hang with Tom, one of my college buddies. Should be a good weekend for caping and seeing the mountains.
