Mindless musings on my thoughts, experiences, and hopes.

It is hot out today. Got up and went to 9:00 mass and it was probably 80 degrees out. I think it's mandatory that I go hang out by the ocean on days like this. Later on I'm going to practice some arabic, shine my boots, clean out my room, and watch a little bit of TV. I'm going through my room now so when I head home to NC, it will be easier to go through things to pack them up. I can't wait to get on the road and get to NC.

Wow, where have I've been? Hmm, came back to Monterey and then back to NC for 4 days to visit more. Now I'm back in Monterey once more. Not much going on really, just working, but since I haven't posted for awhile, I thought I would give an update. I'm pretty much doing army office work and finishing up the rest of what needs to be done before I head home. I should be heading home within the next 2 months if all the paper work is stacked properly. I not too upset to be helping around the company because I get to see how the cadre really are, and I'm actually very impressed by their hard work and dedication to their jobs and to the soldiers they are in charge of helping and guiding. Truth be told, they put in way too many hours than they should, and they do this to a big sacrifice to their personal lives and families. It definitely takes a specific type of person to be in the military and to do it well with conviction and caring.

Mmmmmm, beautiful weekend. Sunny, clear skies, and in the 70s. Hung out around town, went to the beach, and in the evening I watched the surfing documentary, "Step into Liquid." Very eye-pleasing movie. It really was quite magical the way the waves were filmed, how the surfers rode the waves, and how the surfers perceived this way of life. If you get a chance to watch this movie, it is a great experience, you'll love the waves, and you'll want to go surfing right after the movie. Have a great week, I'm back to the grind tomorrow.

Well, thought I grab a new look for the website. Something a bit more subtle, plus I like the orange in the title. I was going to change the title, but can't remember what it was I wanted to change it to. Hmmmm. I'm a bit bummed out here in Monterey, done with school and now I really feel I'm in arrested development. I'm trying to find a calculus class or GRE prep thing to kill time and educate (re-educate) myself. My dayjob here in the army is really a waste of my background, but what to do for now? I'm working on getting myself home, especially since I'm in the reserves and I really want to get back to my job and home. For now I'll just have to goof off and check out the spots around here I haven't gone to before.

It definitely is time to move on from this, my class and friends all moved on to the second stage of training in Texas and Arizona, so I don't have much to do. I do enjoy going out and about by myself, but not when I know I want to be somewhere else and it's just, so slightly, out of my grasp. But I'll get there, just not yesterday, like I'd want.
