Mindless musings on my thoughts, experiences, and hopes.

Man, class was a pain in my a** this week. I can't even begin to describe the crazy sociological dynamics of 10 people, now 9, being in the same class 5 days/week for 6.5 hours/day for 63 weeks. It can get downright psychotic! Now I'm an easy going person and think most people have it together and are cool in their own way. This week, I could have slaughtered a few in my class for being annoying! And I'm only halfway through my class! Yeah, my class is now down to 9 people, one girl got kicked out (rocked out is the military term) for failing a test. I'm sure her spot will be filled by someone ahead of us in studies who got rocked out of their class. I hope to God that I have what it takes to make it to September and graduation. Well, it's just about time for Thanksgiving and I can't wait for the break! Can't wait to see the family. Four whole days off, in-shaw-allah.

I was able to IM with my buddy Bottcher for bit yesterday, that was nice. He's kicking it up with his stockbroker self. I'm going to check out that Harry Potter flick today. Looks pretty cool and Kenneth Branaugh is in it. I'm interested to see his acting in this movie. It's absolutely beautiful here again in Monterey....about 65 and sunny like most days. Just warm enough to hang out but too cool to lay on the beach, the weather is a little tease like that, but better than DC weather in Nov and Dec. I'm still counting down the days till Thanksgiving and I get to go home for 3.5 days, actually Maryland to hang with my aunt and uncle and the 'rents. Tomorrow begins the back to the grind...live for the weekend.

Okay, so I have zero motivation to study arabic today, but I'll force myself to anyway. I have over 100 words and verbs to learn and memorize by Monday, like that's going to happen! I was going to work last night, but ended up watching We Were Soldiers and then going to a bar with some buddies to drink and complain about arabic and the arab culture (it's not all bad, but geez it's rough...don't even start on women's rights). I finally got around to reading an article about Robert Kaplan, which my buddy Bottcher gave me last February! Anyway, really good prescient article on the types of wars that will be fought, the growing gap between the many impoverished and few rich, and the basic lapse of a social contract in many countries in Africa and the Middle East. Essentially, it's saying these countries have no positive outlook and resort to violence for success and identity. Great. Not exactly the utopia some say will occur if we help these countries or forgive their debts. How do you help a country that hate itself? Kind of like a person on a really big scale. Nothing but fundamental change in their thought process from the inside out can help them and only from their own countrymen. Hmmmmmmm, I'll have to think about that one. History does repeat itself.

Oh yeah, off to confession today. First time in probably 3 or 4 years...time to make the priest blush.

How do I get this comment thing not to so gosh darn big? It's the in-your-face COMMENTS!
Wow, alright, this thing might be working for me now. My blog page is rather spartan but I'll figure out things along the way.

So a few friends of mine decided to head to San Fran last night and check out Chinatown, the retail/financial district, and the Golden Gate Bridge. This was my first time to San Francisco and I'll definitely head back to check out more of the sites like Lombard street and Fisherman's Wharf. Maybe even do some Christmas shopping there too. The best part of the evening was our visit to the Hilton Cityscape restaurant, which overlooks the entire city, to have a Bailey's and cofeee and some dessert. The restaurant has quite a view of the Bay Bridge and the city at night. It kind of reminded me of the Windows of the World bar at the World Trade Center. You really felt like you were at the top of the world there. Well, maybe if I figure out how to link photos and stuff, I'll post some pictures from the SF trip.

Today I'll just be relaxing, thank God for long holiday weekends, and then begin studying tonight the evil language that is Arabic. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Alright, it's a cool language, but next to impossible to learn...at least for my dumbass.

Good grief, will this thing work?
Okay, so here it goes...with inspiration from Bad with Names, I figured I'd try out this blogspot thing to keep people informed of my rather mundane monatonous daily life out here in Monterey, California at DLI. Saying all friends and fam are on the east coast, I thought this could be a neat way of keeping everyone informed.

So, I'm typing this at the coffee shop I go to regularly when I'm not always studying, they offer free wireless internet, which just kicks major ass. Well, it's Saturday and I'm just having coffee and checking out the news. I just took my Unit 6 Arabic test on Contracts, Agreements, Amendments, Jewelery, Gifts, and Shopping. I know one can easily discern the relevance between Politics and Shopping....

Anyway, we just had our first rain since May! And it downpoured, but today it's clearing up and I'm hoping to find some people who'll want to head into San Fran for the day...never been there before. Alright, I'm outa here.
